Burn Out Or Fade Away

from Yearbook (EP) by The Reckless Idols

/

about

As a tribute to Kurt Cobain's death, this track points out the IDOL's agonizing last moments of being alive as well as criticizes his RECKLESSNESS towards the end of his life. The idea of burning out or fading away is present in Cobain's suicide letter.
ps: "Love" does not stand for the actual emotional sensation, if you know what I mean.

lyrics

The river of souls has dried
Leaving all souls behind
The sweat stings your eyes
The heat consumes your mind
You're knocking on heaven's door
Now it's time to die

I'd rather burn our than slowly fade away (x2)

Staring right into the deep
Burning light you live beneath
Close your eyes and you can see
The stain of hope that makes you breathe
Now do it, let the needle in
Your cold and pale skin

I'd rather burn our than slowly fade away (x2)

An eye for an eye
Everybody went blind
In a blind land
One eyed man is the last to stand

I'd rather burn our than slowly fade away (x2)

Everything now looks so grey
And you want to run away
Love's ambition broke you apart
And you couldn't make her stop
You want to get away from here
'Cause success is your biggest fear

I'd rather burn our than slowly fade away (x2)
